The Town of Outlook and the RM of Rudy are partnering in order to build a new joint use Fire Hall.

This Fire Hall will serve as the new home for the Outlook-Rudy Fire and Rescue, which serves not only the Town and the RM, but also the communities of Broderick and Glenside.

Kevin Trew, CAO for the Town of Outlook, explains that originally, before the Outlook Fire Hall joined up with the RM and the surrounding communities, they were already planning to build a new Fire Hall.

"In 2021 the RM of Rudy presented to the Town of Outlook that it would like to have a joint fire department and operate one together. A major reasoning behind this was the Town of Outlook had been planning to build a new Fire Hall but there was conversations in the community whether this would be affordable. So we felt it was neccessary to pool resources."

According to a press release put out by the Outlook-Rudy Fire Rescue, a community led Campaign Cabinet (fundraising committee) was formed comprised of Co-Chairs Gerry Gross and Bree Campbell along with a number of other community members. "The focus of the campaign was that the Fire Hall would be built in the community, by the community, for the community. The campaign has raised in excess of $1.2 million."

Recently it was announced that tenders have been awarded to thirteen local contractors who together have pledged over $100,000 of in-kind work along with suppliers  pledging supplies in kind.

The total projected costs of project are $1.66 million and of that, $1.4 million has already been raised in donations and in-kind pledges." The Campaign Cabinet is making a final push for pledges and donations so that this truly will be a community built Fire Hall at no cost to the local ratepayer."

RiverGrove Homes has been selected as the project manager and the fire hall is expected to open in late fall, 2025.
