We're two weeks away from the 2025 Candian Federal Election and there are officially four candidates in Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley.

Elections Canada posted a finalized list of candidates last week.

The local election is between the incumbent, Conservative MP Jeremy Patzer, William Caton of the Liberal Party, independent Maria Rose Lewans, and Alex McPhee of the NDP.

All four candidates have run in at least one previous federal election.

The Green Party had initially listed former Weyburn-Bengough provincial election candidate North Hunter as their candidate for Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley. Her profile no longer appears on the Green Party website and she didn't make the final list of candidates released by Elections Canada.

Swift Current Online reached out to the Green Party for comment and have not received a reply.

The People's Party of Canada listed Terry Sieben as their candidate but later announced Sieben stepped down due to health issues.

This is the first election for the new riding of Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley.

In 2021's election, the old riding of Cypress Hills-Grasslands had seven candidates including one from the Maverick Party. Patzer won with 71.53 per cent of the vote.
