The field is becoming clearer for SHSAA Regional Badminton on May 3. Senior district tournaments are being held around the province in the leadup, including in Biggar last week for the West Central Athletics Association.
The host Biggar Blazers were well represented on their home court. Their athletes took home a bronze in mixed doubles, and a silver in girls singles for a chance to play in regionals.
Rosetown Central High School also had a few athletes in play in Biggar, moving players on in both boys' singles and mixed doubles.
A pair of LCBI Bisons also earned the right to advance in Biggar.
Dinsmore Composite School had a great showing in Biggar with 5 out of 10 athletes making the playoff round. Only the boys' doubles team earned the right to move on to regionals after earning the silver medal in a good game against a duo from Kindersley.
Finally, Kindersley Composite School also had a good showing. Joining the gold medal win over Dinsmore mentioned above, KCS is sending a representative in senior girls' singles after a silver medal finish.

(Full district results N/A/Plenty, Kyle, Eston, Elrose, Kenaston, and Davidson were among the other schools in attendance)
Regionals in Saskatoon on May 3 will be one of four tournaments taking place around the province. Local teams will take place in "Series D" from Walter Murray, while Series A is played in Maple Creek, Series B in Estevan, and Series C up in PA Carlton.
Also, this past week junior badminton districts were held around the region. See athletes that competed in LCBI, and Unity for their respective conferences below.
