Steinbach RCMP stopped a speeding motorist on Saturday, only to discover she was also impaired. 

According to police, the infraction happened on Steinbach Main Street Saturday at 2:12 am. A 30-year-old female from Steinbach was stopped for driving 84 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a 50 km/h zone. Police then learned she was also impaired. The motorist now faces charges of speeding, driving while disqualified, and operating a motor vehicle while impaired. She will have her vehicle impounded for 30 days and her license suspended for 90 days. 

Steinbach RCMP say three other speeders were caught over the weekend. One motorist was ticketed $364 for driving 104 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Another motorist was fined $325 for travelling 71 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The other motorist was ticketed $246 for driving 65 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. 

Also, over the weekend, Steinbach RCMP responded to a domestic assault. Police say it happened Friday at 10:37 pm in Steinbach. As a result, both a 35-year-old male and a 37-year-old female from Steinbach face charges of assault. 

Steinbach RCMP report a busy weekend with 50 calls for service.
