A confirmed landspout tornado touched down near Rolling Hills, Alta., this past weekend.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said the tornado was spotted on Saturday, April 12, in the County of Newell.

"Environment and Climate Change Canada received multiple reports and photos; however, there have been no reports of damage at this time," said ECCC in a release.

The tornado was given an EF0 rating, according to the organization.

"This was considered a landspout tornado that was generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms," the release added.

"Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous as they can topple trees, damage roofs, or toss debris a short distance."

Meteorologists are seeking pictures of the tornado or any damage it may have caused.
