Calgary Flames fan and Strathmore resident Nick Leblond is hoping his team can make the playoffs.

"It's been pretty crazy," said Leblond.

The Flames are two points behind the St. Louis Blues for the eighth and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

All the Flames need to do is win their last two games of the regular season — and hope that the Blues lose their last game.

There's also a chance the Flames could also sneak into seventh place by winning out and hoping the Minnesota Wild lose their final game.

"The group of boys that we have right now couldn't be a better group," added Leblond.

Leblond grew up in Strathmore and began watching games with his father. But it was the Flames' 2004 playoff run that had the biggest impact on him as a fan.

"I remember sitting in the stands back in 2004 as a little kid, seeing all the green hard hats everywhere, the crowd cheering and a whole C of Red," said Leblond.

The Flames currently have 92 points, compared to the Wild's 95 and the Blues' 94.

"Make sure you got TVs on to check the St. Louis game, the Minnesota game, and the Flames game," joked Leblond.

The Flames will be keeping a close eye on the scoreboards Tuesday night as the Minnesota Wild will take on the Anaheim Ducks at 6 p.m. and the St. Louis Blues face the Utah Hockey Club at 6 p.m.

Calgary hosts the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
