Gospel singer and American Idol contestant Canaan James Hill did not allow his allergies to stop him from praising the Lord during his most recent performance on the popular television show.
The 17-year-old once again blew away the crowd singing Fred Hammond's "Glory to Glory to Glory."
He had the crowd and judges in awe as he sang from his soul.
"I just have to say I love your personality, how you just walk on stage like 'Here I am' and then it just happens and it's amazing," said Carrie Underwood. "I know you're dealing with some allergies out here. To be honest, I kind of think it was a bit of a blessing. We know that you have tricks on tricks on tricks in your bag, but I feel that might have forced you to simplify a little bit, and it was really nice."
Luke Bryan followed, saying that Canaan has one of the most dynamic voices he's heard since he's been a part of the show.
"You've got to remember. If you're a little under the weather, your under the weather is still better than the rest of the world," said Bryan. "Just a tremendous performance. Uplifting. Your ability to be on the beach and have church on the beach was like pretty amazing."
Lionel Ritchie told the crowd that they had witnessed a possession.
"That was a possession, and he didn't do any tricks," said Ritchie. "Your voice is your signature. I just love it when you interpret the word. But on top of that, I cannot wait to hear you when you start interpreting other songs outside of the church because I know you've got the ability to navigate your own sound within those songs, but you nailed that song tonight."
Fans also quickly reacted with many praising him for putting God front and centre.
"Definitely an anointed young man! He is a Gospel singer through & through, that's his identity! Stick to it, young man! Proverbs 18:16 YOUR gift will make room for you!" said one fan.
"You took us to church. Praise the Lord. That was amazing!!" said another fan.
"Don't stop sharing your gift with the world! Your voice is a beacon of hope and joy, and it's needed now more than ever.
Canaan James Hill is a content creator who graduated early from high school and is currently training to become a preacher.
Canaan received one of three platinum tickets, which allowed him to bypass the first round of Hollywood.
