The West Central Crisis and Family Support Center is inviting the community to come together for an evening of music, fun, and meaningful impact on April 19. Held at the Major Centennial Hall, this annual fundraiser kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and promises an exciting lineup of live music, door prizes, a silent auction, and refreshments. Tickets are $45 and available at the door.

The event will feature performances by Laura Hayes, Superb Sound & Friends and Jordan Pollard. All proceeds go directly to the West Central Crisis and Family Support Center to support their efforts in establishing safe housing in southwest Saskatchewan.

"This is our big fundraiser of the year," said event coordinator Fiarra Nixon. “Last year, we raised $4,900 and this year, we’re aiming to raise even more."

The need for safe housing is personal for Nixon. "Back in 2013-14, I couldn’t find a safe house that could support me at my threat level,” she said. “So, it’s very important that we do what we can and help them to accomplish their goals."

Located in Kindersley, the West Central Crisis and Family Support Center is a vital service hub for individuals and families facing urgent and often life-threatening situations. The center offers support without charging fees to clients and serves people impacted by domestic violence, human trafficking, gang violence, and other crises.

The services they provide include:

  • Emergency support: Shelter, food, clothing, and help accessing financial aid.
  • Counseling and crisis intervention: Mental health emergencies and addiction treatment.
  • Trauma response: Support following motor vehicle fatalities, house fires, sudden deaths, and displacement.
  • Professional support: Support for first responders and frontline workers.
  • Legal and advocacy services: Court preparation, immigration support, and client transportation.
  • Youth empowerment and suicide prevention.

The center is often the first and only point of contact for people in immediate danger or distress in the region. Its staff work tirelessly to offer safety, stability, and hope to those who need it most.

Fiarra Nixon encourages everyone to attend: "Bring your family, friends, and neighbors. Every bit of support makes a difference."
