Nash Wassing can now add Teck Cup champion to his growing list of accomplishments.

Wassing, originally from Strathmore, won the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Teck Cup title with his team, the Grand Forks Border Bruins.

It marks the first time the team have claimed the coveted hardware, sweeping the series the Revelstoke Grizzles 4-0 in the final series.

“As the game went on, a little nervousness to start, the magnitude of the game in front of us was huge,” said Border Bruins head coach-general manager Dave Hnatiuk.

“We settled down and we found our groove and played our game. Just the fact that the guys stuck with it.”

Earlier this month, Wassing was also named one of the league's top stars.
