The Little Seedlings Daycare Center is in the running for a $25,000 prize through BASF’s Growing Home initiative—but community support is needed before voting closes tonight.
Little Seedlings, a non-profit project in development since 2022, is working to open Wilkie’s first licensed daycare and extended care program for school-aged children. The centre would address a critical childcare shortage in the area and support working families—especially those in the agriculture sector.
The Growing Home initiative allows residents to vote for their favourite community organization from a shortlist of three finalists in each province. Winning entries will receive $25,000 for first place, $15,000 for second, and $10,000 for third.
With roughly $700,000 of the required $900,000 already raised, Little Seedlings says a top prize would help fast-track the final stages of renovation and bring them closer to opening their doors.
“This project means more than just childcare—it’s about building up our community, supporting parents, and creating local jobs,” said a representative from the Little Seedlings team. “We hope everyone in Wilkie and beyond will vote today to help us cross the finish line.”
To vote, visit Growing Home with BASF, select Saskatchewan, choose Little Seedlings Daycare Center Inc., and submit your ballot before the deadline tonight.
