Saskatchewan artist Jake Vaadeland is one of three finalists in this year’s Top of the Country competition, a national talent search hosted by SiriusXM Canada and the Canadian Country Music Association.
Vaadeland, who hails from Cut Knife, Sask., was selected alongside Sully Burrows of Parry Sound, Ont., and Noeline Hofmann of Bow Island, Alta., following a nationwide vote by Canadian fans and music industry experts.
The finalists will each receive exclusive mentorship opportunities and perform at major country music events across Canada throughout the summer. The competition will culminate in a live performance during Country Music Week in Kelowna, B.C., this September, where one artist will be named the 2025 SiriusXM Top of the Country champion and receive the $25,000 grand prize. The two runners-up will each be awarded $10,000.
“This year’s voting period was a fantastic show of support for Canadian country music, and the caliber of talent only amplified this sense of national pride, driving more fans to vote,” said Michelle Mearns, senior vice-president of programming and operations at SiriusXM Canada. “This competition is a true testament to our shared commitment to homegrown music from coast to coast. We’re excited to see fans continue cheering on these artists as they race toward the finale!”
Before the final showdown in Kelowna, Vaadeland and his fellow finalists will travel to Nashville in June for CMA Fest, where they’ll work with top industry professionals. In August, they’ll perform at Montréal’s LASSO country music festival, a major stop on the road to the title.
