The City of Grande Prairie begins annual pest control operations in May to support the health of parks, trees and green spaces.

Operations run from May to October, weather permitting, and focus on controlling noxious weeds, insects and plant diseases. All pest control takes place on City-owned land within municipal boundaries using products registered with Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency. Residents with concerns are encouraged to contact AccessGP by calling 311.

“Keeping our parks, green spaces and trees healthy is a priority for our team,” said Parks Director Kase DeVries. “This program supports the community's enjoyment of outdoor spaces by responsibly managing pests in line with public health and environmental standards.”

The City reminds residents that under Alberta’s Weed Control Act, property owners are responsible for identifying and controlling noxious weeds on their own land. These invasive plants can damage natural ecosystems and spread quickly if left unmanaged.

Residents can report noxious weeds in public areas or along roadways by contacting AccessGP at 311 or info@cityofgp.com.
