A Husky Bunny would be cute enough to fill in for a vacationing Easter Bunny! Great suggestion, Nikki!

If the Easter Bunny took a break, who should take over? You had some egg-cellent ideas!

With Easter weekend just around the corner, I brought a very important question to the Country 107 Morning Show:
If the Easter Bunny needed a little vacation, who should fill in?

Let’s be honest, delivering candy to millions of kids across the country sounds exhausting. A little time off feels fair, right?

I posed the question to my guest Michelle Sawatzky-Koop, and her answer? Let’s just say... things got a little bouncy.

Introducing the Easter Kangaroo?

Michelle didn’t hesitate. “Why wouldn’t we have a little kangaroo?” she said. “It’s got a little pouch. Put the eggs in. He hops around, right?”

She wasn’t wrong—it’s practical! But I had questions. “I feel like kangaroos are aggressive, are they not?” I said. “When I think of a kangaroo, I see them punching.”

Michelle’s response? “Happy Easter. Bam bam!”
Honestly, it might be the most intense Easter greeting I’ve ever heard.

Still, she might be onto something. The Easter Kangaroo: cute, energetic, and maybe just a little feisty. Australia, are you listening?

You chimed in with your own Easter stand-ins

I took the question to our Country 107 listeners, and wow—you delivered. From the hilarious to the adorable, here are just a few of your creative suggestions:

  • Lisa Konowich went with the goose—confident and chaotic, a strong choice.

  • Jasmine Blatz said, “Clearly an Easter Egger chicken! lol” (Yes, very on theme.)

  • Nikki Nikki suggested the Husky Bunny. It might howl, but at least you'd hear it coming.

  • Bob Feniuk was Team Kangaroo all the way.

  • Heather Otto Worona chose a wallaby—kangaroo vibes but slightly more chill.

  • Michelle Yarych picked a raccoon. Little hands. Big snack potential.

  • Curtis Doerksen nominated the groundhog. He already has holiday experience.

  • Ruth Morris melted our hearts with the idea of a “cute little rolly hedgehog.”

Final thoughts?

If the Easter Bunny ever decides to book a spa weekend, it’s comforting to know there’s a whole crew of animals ready to hop (or sprint, waddle, or roll) into action.

Thanks for having some fun with us and sharing your picks!
