Concert season is heating up, and Mix 96 listeners are scoring big on the Morning Show fuelled by Clearview Co-op!
We've been giving away tons of concert tickets lately — and this is only the beginning. With summer festivals, outdoor shows and big-name acts rolling into Manitoba, you better believe there are many more chances to win on the way.
One lucky listener, Theresa, recently beat the box office to land herself tickets to the Burt Block Party on August 17 featuring Harlequin, Chilliwack and the one-and-only Kim Mitchell.
“I love that. Thank you,” she said after hearing the good news on-air. “He is such a good performer. I like watching him.”
Theresa's win came after she texted in the word “Mitchell,” along with a bonus entry — a memory of her favourite concert of all time: The Tragically Hip.
“I’ve been going to see The Hip since they started touring,” she told us. “We were fortunate enough to go see them on their last tour, and it was emotional and incredible. The whole ambience of the arena was amazing.”
And here's the kicker — she revealed that the tickets for that legendary farewell tour came from Mix 96 too.
“I was dancing around the kitchen, seriously freaking right out,” she laughed. “It was incredible.”
From iPods to live music
Then there was Vanessa — whose story brought all the nostalgia.
Her friend Cassandra was the lucky winner of Marianas Trench tickets, and immediately let us know she'd be bringing Vanessa along. We made the fun call to Vanessa to share the winning news.
“I have an iPod from 2010 that is loaded with Marianas Trench and Down with Webster and Fefe Dobson,” she said. “You have no idea how excited this makes me.”
She’ll now be reliving those 2010 jams live at the Burt Block Party on August 15, with a lineup that includes all her favourite artists.
“Oh, that is amazing,” she said. “I really want to see them. So this is so exciting!”
