Update: Valleyview RCMP would like to inform the public that Highway 43 has reopened for travel.
Investigation revealed that a cyclist was travelling in the middle of a westbound lane and was not seen by a Semi-Truck until it was too late.
Though the Semi-Truck attempted to avoid the cyclist, it was unable to do so and, unfortunately, the cyclist was pronounced deceased on scene. Charges are not currently being sought in regards to this incident.
The thoughts of the Alberta RCMP are with the family and friends of the deceased.
Valleyview RCMP are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 43, West of Valleyview, near Range Road 230.
Highway 43 Westbound will be closed in the area while emergency personnel respond and an investigation takes place.
The public is asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel should travel be necessary.
An update will be sent once the highway reopens.
