The Western Hockey League's Victoria Royals, featuring Macklin native Cole Reschny — who is currently tied for first among scorers in the WHL playoffs — are on the brink of elimination tonight on the road against the Spokane Chiefs.
Reschny has a share of the league lead with 25 points in 10 games this postseason. Nine goals have him fourth in that category for the playoffs, Reschny's 16 assists enough to be tied for third with WHL phenom, and Medicine Hat forward Gavin McKenna.

After splitting the first two games in Spokane, the Royals took a 2-1 series lead with a 4-3 win last Wednesday. Game 4 is when things went off the rails as Spokane won 9-6 to tie up the series and then won another high-scoring tilt 5-4 the next night out in Game 5, Reschny collecting 9 points in that three-game span.
If the Royals can extend the series Game 7 would be played tomorrow night in Spokane, the winners facing whoever comes out on top of the Everett/Portland series set to wrap up tonight with their own Game 7.
A little closer to home, the Calgary Hitmen and Lethbridge Hurricanes have a winner-take-all Game 7 on Wednesday out of the Eastern Conference. The winner of that series will play the Medicine Hat Tigers, who are coming off a sweep of the Prince Albert Raiders in the second round.
