Kaleigh Kocian started Sugarology with the goal of making Sugaring more accessible
Categories

Kaleigh Kocian is on a mission to make body sugaring accessible for women in the Southeast. And just in time for the approaching summer season, she’s added laser hair removal to her arsenal.

Kocian first fell in love with body sugaring as a Winnipeg resident, for many reasons.

“Sugaring is really an art – but there is science behind it, with the removal of the hair from the root,” she explains. “It’s a 100% natural hair removal method that results in thinner hair regrowth, and in my experience, actually boosts your confidence – even when your hair grows back.”

Another benefit of sugaring is that hair grows back thinner, which makes everything about the process much more comfortable than dealing with the irritation and stubble that results from traditional shaving.

However, when Kocian moved out of Winnipeg and into Mitchell, she was surprised to learn that she could not book a sugaring appointment anywhere in the region.

“I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m the only woman looking for hair removal in southeast Manitoba!’ I figured if I could learn to do it, at least I could solve my own problem – and hopefully solve problems for other women in the area, too.”

Sugarology’s studio is located in Kocian’s home, which provides clients with a private, one-on-one experience.

“I don’t have multiple people in my home at a time,” she says. “It’s just me and my client, and occasionally an appointment will overlap and there will be someone at the door, but really it just allows women to arrive at ease without having to deal with a crowded waiting room.”

Even though her studio is private, Kocian clarifies that body hair isn’t the enemy.

“Growing up, there was a lot of shame behind hair removal. And it doesn't have to be that way. So one of the things that I really focused on when I started sugaring was making sure women were confident and enjoyed not only their method of hair removal, but also the hair growth itself.

“I want you to feel confident when you do have hair on your body, and I want you to be able to feel confident whether you choose to remove it or not.”

Kocian recently introduced laser hair removal to her studio, with options for women that fall somewhere between the sugaring and lasering experiences.

“I’m using SharpLight technology, which is fast, advanced, and designed for a remarkably comfortable experience. It has a cooling tip that keeps your skin very cool, so it minimizes discomfort, irritation, and redness. It also allows for the most effective results.”

Her aim has always been to make hair removal accessible for women in the southeast, and a big part of that is making it financially accessible as well, which is why she’s introduced a membership option with discounted rates.

“It’s called The Smooth Society,” Kocian reveals. “You pay an annual fee of $200 and get access to discounted laser hair removal services for one year unlimited. So it would be $50 per body part, per session. And with it being unlimited, that gives you the option to start with one body part and add or take away as you please throughout the year.

“So if you just do your underarms because you just want them hairless for summer, but then realize how great laser is and decide to add your legs or any other areas, you can without having to purchase another package.” To book an appointment or learn more, follow @sugarologystudio on Instagram and send Kocian a direct message, or visit the website at www.sugarology.ca.
