It was a busy morning for Steinbach Fire Department.
Fire Chief Kel Toews says they responded to two separate crashes on the western edge of Steinbach. The first crash happened around 9 am at the intersection of Highway 52 and Industrial Road.
"No extrication," says Toews. "I know two people were transported, but I don't know the nature of their injuries."
While at the scene, they received a second call just down the road at Keating and Highway 52, where three vehicles had collided. Toews says nobody was transported to hospital from the second crash.
He notes as a result of the two crashes, that section of eastbound Highway 52 was down to a single lane for about ninety minutes. Toews says this caused traffic to back up quite a ways.
Toews says everything was cleaned up by about 10:15 am, noting all five vehicles needed to be towed.
