RCMP have provided more details from Thursday morning's two crashes on the west edge of Steinbach.
The first one happened around 9 am at the intersection of Highway 52 and Industrial Road. According to police, a pickup truck was stopped at the red light when it was rear-ended by another pickup truck. Both occupants were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Then, at 9:30 am, there was a second crash just down the road along Highway 52 near Keating Road. Police say a pickup truck was stopped on Keating when a sedan hit the truck after being T-boned by another pickup. According to police, no injuries were reported. A 20-year-old driver was charged.
Steinbach Fire Chief Kel Toews says as a result of the two crashes, that section of eastbound Highway 52 was down to a single lane for about ninety minutes. Toews says this caused traffic to back up quite a ways. Toews says everything was cleaned up by about 10:15 am, noting all five vehicles needed to be towed.
