There have been survey flags showing up all across Strathmore lately, and the town is explaining why.

In a social media post made on Thursday, April 24, the town explained the reasons that survey flags are placed.

"They might mark utility lines, property boundaries, future construction sites, or other underground infrastructure," wrote the town. "That said, not all flags mean something major is happening. It could also just be kids setting up a creative racetrack in their yard."

Although the town is running several capital projects this year, flags can also be placed by utility companies, contractors, or property owners.

"If the flag is on public property and you’re curious about a specific location, the best place to start is by looking at the name or contact info often printed on or near the flag itself," added the town.

The town also said that if there is any major work being done in your neighbourhood, the town will do its best to inform residents.
