Martha Kehler (nee Driedger), age 86 passed away peacefully on Thursday April 24, 2025 in the MacGregor Care Home. She was born in Gretna, MB. to John and Kathy Driedger on May 20, 1938. She was predeceased by her son Ken Kehler and her granddaughter in-law Megan Hiebert.
Peter and Martha were married August 14,1960 in Kronsweide, MB. It was a try love story in which they celebrated 64 years. Peter & Martha started their family young welcoming a family of six Earl, Carl, Ed, Evelyn, Ken and Grant. While building their family they travelled and lived throughout Manitoba with their friends and family know as the gravel gang. Once Peter left the gravel days and moved onto working for McCain’s they moved into the Macgregor area and then into Peony Farms Portage La Prairie. This is where Martha opened her home to many more kids through her daycare which she ran for 14 plus years. Martha had the gentle loving pat (as some would say) that her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and adopted daycare kids will always cherish.
Her and her sisters were a true group of hens always ensuring a good laugh and getting into sister trouble. Family camping was always a priority in the summer making sure bellies were full and memories were made. Martha spent hours in her basement with her sisters quilting and creating special Wedding, graduation and baby gifts that were made by their loving hands. She always had a table full of home cooked meals ready to eat for family and friends. Martha had a deep spiritual side which she enjoyed listening to hymns on the radio, attending Sommerfeld Church and helping with the Sunday School program for 30 years.
Martha was the boss but a gentle boss who’s heart was worn on her sleeve, she always ensured those around her were fed, loved and cherished. Throughout life, Martha experienced many tough times, though she never allowed life’s hardship to impact how she shared her love, brought people joy, and cared for others. Even in the darkest hours, Martha looked for the silver linings. She was never afraid to laugh from her toes, crack a joke, or bring peace by being a listening ear.
Martha will be lovingly remembered by her children Earl (Irene), Carl (Alison), Ed, Evelyn (Brad), Grant (Janelle), and will be forever missed by her grandchildren Garry, Cory (Janna), Trevor (Kaley), Shaun, April (Aaron), Ethan (Hailey), Emerald, Kris (Guy), Skyler (Courtney), Jagger (Lora), Mike (Frankie), Travis (Gabrielle), Amanada (Ferdinand), Sage, Spencer, Cabrie, Kianna and many great grand children.
