Millions of Canadians rushed to cast their ballots when the advance polls opened on April 18, and when the dust settled, nearly 7.3 million were cast nationwide. 

The estimated turnouts for the 45th General Election—broken down per day and total are as follows: 

Friday, April 18 – 2,054,525 

Saturday, April 19 – 1,659,952 

Sunday, April 20 – 1,466,225 

Monday, April 21 – 2,100,273  

The total number of ballots cast during the early voting period was 7,280,975, a 24.41 per cent increase over the 5,852,391 valid votes cast during the 44th General Election’s advance polling days. 

Saskatchewan’s voters, like the rest of Canada, turned out in higher numbers compared to overall. Current estimates indicate that 206,754 ballots were cast during this year’s early voting period, a 12.42 per cent increase over the 183,898 cast during the previous General Election.  

The Moose Jaw—Lake Centre—Lanigan riding saw 14,839 ballots cast over the four-day period.
