Katie Richardson, a U15A lacrosse player with HOKs, is heading to nationals in August.

After a series of trials, Richardson secured her spot at the Canada Summer Games in Halifax as part of the Lacrosse Canada National Championships between August 11 and 15.

"If you make the first round, then you go to the second round in Red Deer. If you make it, you get a phone call," said Richardson.

The Strathmore-based player has been in the game for eight years and said that her favourite part of the game is the teammates.

"They're really welcoming to me playing."

Richardson said that she's looking forward to visiting Halifax, which she hasn't done before.

"It was a little nerve-wracking meeting everybody, but I've gotten to talking to them, and they even want me to play with their teams."

Richardson is just one of several local players who will be at the Canada Summer Games in August.
