A thick blanket of fog hung over Loewen Boulevard in Steinbach on Monday morning as two large excavators rolled up to the old Steinbach Family Medical Clinic. Their arrival marked the first big step in a major project: turning the former clinic into the future home of Steinbach Bible College (SBC).
SBC President Dave Reimer shared his excitement and noted that demolition at their new location has finally begun.
“Only part of the building will be coming down; the west wing, so they can do a fresh build. We’ll be renovating the east wing to be our office space. The atrium will be our community living center, where students will eat and lounge together.”

But that’s not all. The school is planning a full rebuild of the west wing, with construction starting from the ground up.
“It will be built fresh, from the foundation up, two stories. There will be classrooms on the main floor, with the library and the chapel on the second floor. And then we’ll be adding dorms to the west end of the building.”

SBC plans to open the new campus in September 2026, and there’s plenty of work to be done before then. But Reimer remains hopeful and excited for what’s ahead.
“We’re very glad for the partners that we have in construction and also in fundraising as we go with this process,” he said. “And we’re excited about a growing number of students who are planning to join us.”
