Steinbach RCMP stopped several off-road vehicles riding through the city Friday evening. According to police, each of the riders was ticketed. The most serious fines were $672 for failing to stop when signaled by a peace officer. The lesser fines were $113 for operating an off-road vehicle on a roadway.
Also, over the weekend, RCMP responded to a pair of domestic assaults. The first was reported Saturday at 10:21 am in Steinbach. Police say a 30-year-old male from Steinbach faces charges of assaulting a female. The second incident happened Sunday at 10:20 am in Steinbach. As a result, a 30-year-old male from Leaf Rapids faces charges of assaulting a female.
Meanwhile, on Saturday at 8:50 pm, RCMP stopped an impaired driver in Steinbach. Police say a 33-year-old male from the Rural Municipality of Hanover faces charges of impaired driving, flight from police, careless driving, failing to stop when signaled by a police officer, driving while disqualified, driving without motor vehicle liability insurance, and carrying liquor in a vehicle.
And finally, RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision Sunday at 3:04 am. It happened along Road 36E in the Rural Municipality of Hanover. Police say a 30-year-old male from the Sarto area now faces charges of driving while impaired.
Steinbach RCMP received 53 calls for service over the weekend. Steinbach officers collectively issued 26 provincial offence tickets.
