John Barlow, incumbent Conservative MP for Foothills, appears to have handily won the riding for the fifth consecutive time.
As of 10 p.m. on election night (April 28), Barlow leads with 35,200 votes, which represent nearly 77 per cent of the 45,805 total votes counted.
Barlow addressed supporters at his election night party at Highwood Gold at around 8:45 p.m.
"This wasn't the result that we were hoping for nationally, but, you know what? We've still got some work to do, and we have a great team. This is probably the best caucus that I've ever been involved with, with the Conservative team we have," said Barlow.
At the time of his speech, he was leading by about 6,000 votes, with 51 polls reporting.
Barlow thanked all in attendance and gave shout-outs to his campaign team.
"I do want to you know celebrate a little bit about what we accomplished here in Foothills, and I think last I heard we were about 75 percent so we're like that's an incredible achievement that we've done here in southwest Alberta, and that doesn't just happen. We had more volunteers and more supporters than we've ever had coming out and helping us over the 40-plus days, whether that was that was manning the office, door knocking, putting up signs, or getting up there picking up signs now, as the week goes on."

He continued, "We knocked on around 10,000 doors this campaign. That's more than we ever have since I first came in in our first election. We had at least, on average, eight people door knocking with us every single day, and that's in Okotoks, High River, all the way down to Crowsnest Pass, Glenwood-just the dedication and the commitment from all of you in this riding, honestly, just melts my heart for Louise and I. To have that kind of support is unbelievable."
Results are still coming in at the time of publication, and will likely be finalized in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
