A well-known Liverpool soccer player is being reprimanded after sharing his faith with the crowd following a goal.
Cody Gakpo took off his jersey to celebrate and reveal a white tank top with the words "I belong to Jesus."
The Dutch player was immediately given a yellow card by one of the referees because FIFA rules state that players are not allowed to have any political, religious or personal slogans on them.
The Liverpool Reds went on to win the game 5-1 over the Tottenham Spurs.
"Childhood dream fulfilled โ Premier League champions 24/25," said Gakpo in a post on Facebook. "So ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฑ of everyone on the team and everything weโve achieved. Reds, your love and support made it even more ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น โ canโt thank yโall enough. ๐๐ผ๐ฑ guided every step of this journey, and Iโm beyond grateful."
The Reds still have two games left this season before returning to Anfield on May 25 to play against Crystal Palace and lift the trophy.ย ย
