Edwin (Ed) Walter Klassen passed away peacefully Sunday April 27 at Boundary Trails Health Centre surrounded by family. Ed was born September 14, 1935 to Peter and Anna Klassen. The family moved several times during his growing up years so home was Gretna, Tolstoy, and Grimsby School District.
In 1954, at 19, Ed began driving truck for Reimer Express Lines. He met the love of his life Edna Heide in 1957 and they were married in September of 1958. Their marriage was blessed by the arrival of son, James in 1959 and son Dale in 1962. Their chosen daughter, Nicole joined the family in 1968.
Family and faith were important to Ed which was the reason the family moved to Thunder Bay so he could drive for Greyhound Bus Lines and be home more often. He retired in 2000 and in 2005 he and Edna moved to Winkler to be closer to grandchildren. He continued to drive truck and made many new friends.
Ed leaves to mourn his wife Edna Klassen (nee Heidi), son James (Renee), children Dominik (Chelsea), Sebastian, Mattias, son Dale (Tammy), children Tonya, Justin, daughter Nicole (Roger), son Alex and great grandchildren Tyson, Noah, Riker, and Braxen as well as 5 brothers, 4 sisters, many in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
