The Royals lost a double OT heartbreaker 5-4, but Reschny's season didn't end there, as fast forward one week and the local star is in Allen, Texas playing for Team Canada at the U18 World Hockey Championship.

Team Canada finished the group stage 4-0, their last victory coming 8-1 over Team Norway on Monday. After a day off Tuesday, the quarter-final round begins on Wednesday with Reschny and Canada set to face Czechia.

Joining the team late, Reschny has three points (two goals, one assist) in three games. Team captain and Seattle Thunderbirds forward (and captain) Braeden Cootes leads the team in scoring with nine points (five goals, four assists) in four games, three teammates tied behind him in second with eight points each.

After Wednesday the teams who advance will play in the semi-finals on Friday, the losers playing the bronze medal game Saturday afternoon while the winners get set to play for gold in the evening.

Canada will look to defend their gold medal after Reschny and company won it all in Finland in 2024.
