Saskatchewan hunters are being encouraged to mark their calendars, as the province's 2025 Big Game Draw officially opens on May 1.
The annual draw gives residents the chance to apply for limited-entry hunts for species including mule deer, elk, moose, and pronghorn in select wildlife management zones across the province.
"The Big Game Draw is your opportunity to experience Saskatchewan's world-class hunting firsthand," said Environment Minister Travis Keisig. "We want every hunter to have a fair chance at success and that starts with applying early and being prepared."
Applications must be submitted through the Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence (HAL) system no later than 4:00 p.m. on May 29. The province notes that there will be no deadline extensions or exceptions.
To avoid last-minute issues, the Ministry of Environment recommends that hunters log into their HAL accounts early, confirm their residency status using the online verification tool, and consult the 2025 Big Game Draw Supplement for important details on draw quotas and eligibility requirements.
Draw results will be posted in mid-June, with pronghorn results following in mid-July. While notification emails will be sent to applicants, hunters are responsible for checking their own results through their HAL accounts.
Licences for successful applicants will be available for purchase starting August 1.
