The Biggar RCMP released their final report of the month back on Monday, covering the period between April 22 to its release on April 28.

Officers noted a "lower key" week in terms of traffic enforcement, a positive sign, though RCMP Traffic Services stop a fair share of speeders while setup in the detachment area, contributing to some 30 occurrences for the detachment this week.

Mischief and more this week involved police being called to Perdue to investigate after reports of suspicious persons with flashlights. Back in Biggar, a break-in at the school bus maintenance shop resulted in two starters being stolen from a 2018 Ford F-150. While at the garage, police came across a retired school bus that had its windows shot out, believed to have happened in March 2025

Police helped out in a situation involving a vehicle stuck on the highway with expired plates. The vehicle had run out of gas, and was towed after being deemed a traffic hazard, in addition to the lack of insurance. Speaking of road hazards, another call during the week shared that five cows had gotten loose near Kinley after breaking through a fence line.

While police don't normally attend strictly medical calls, officers were thrust into action multiple times this past week with reports of "different persons requiring medical attention for various reasons." Police aren't always required but will always be available in cases of extenuating circumstances and urgency.

One of the main calls for police this week saw them continuing investigation into suspicious activity, resulting in trespassing and thefts, at the local airport.

The last notable call in the report detailed a gas theft in Biggar that was resolved quickly. It turned out to just be a mix of up, an old game of who paid the gas bill between husband and wife, as police contacted the driver, and they returned to settle their fuel bill immediately.

Anyone with information on these cases or anything else in the Biggar RCMP jurisdiction can contact them at (306) 948-6600, and crimes can also be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
