The Canalta Cochrane is already making waves in town.
Formerly Ramada, the property is the only hotel in Cochrane to feature a pool, hot tub and waterslide.
General manager Sebastien Leskow said Canalta’s amenities and guest-focused approach set it apart in Canada’s fastest-growing community.
“Something that sets us apart is what we call our ‘Seven Star Service,’” Leskow said. “We put a big focus on guest relations and make sure our team does everything it can to provide guests with a comfortable, safe and friendly stay.”
Each of Canalta’s 89 guest rooms includes free high-speed Wi-Fi, a Keurig coffee machine and HDTVs. Suites with kitchenettes are available, and parking is always free. The hotel also offers a fitness centre and a games room.
All original Ramada staff have been retained, and more employees will be hired as the busy season ramps up. Visually, the most noticeable change is the signage, but the rebrand brings broader benefits.
“Canalta is unique because it’s an Alberta-based, family-owned and operated company, founded in 1974,” Leskow said. “We have more than 40 properties across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and we continue to grow throughout the Prairie provinces.”
Canalta offers a loyalty program that rewards guests with exclusive perks, free stays and opportunities to offset their carbon footprint.
“We’ve really focused on sustainability and eco-friendliness, with initiatives like high-efficiency appliances, energy-saving technology and key card inserts for in-room power management,” Leskow said. “Another exciting feature is our tree-planting partnership. One night’s stay earns enough loyalty points to plant a tree. Our goal is to plant a million trees over the next five years.”
The Cochrane location will also bring back the popular Stampede Breakfast in 2025. The champagne breakfast was so well attended last year that the champagne ran out — a situation Leskow joked will not be repeated. New family-friendly activities will also be added.
“We want to get the word out that Canalta is an Alberta company that’s growing,” Leskow said. “We offer great amenities, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone who visits.”
