Canalta has continued its growth with a new hotel in High River.

The Canalta High River has over 80 rooms and suites, featuring Canalta’s signature amenities including a heated indoor pool, hot tub and waterslide, free high-speed Wi-Fi and a complimentary deluxe breakfast.

“When you go to a hotel, what defines your stay is the way you’re treated,” says Wendy Burgin, general manager of the Canalta Hotel in High River. “At Canalta, our team treats every guest like they’re the most important person. They’re the reason we do what we do.”

Burgin has been with the High River property — formerly a Ramada — since 2013. She said she’s excited for guests to experience the Alberta-based, family-owned chain’s trademark hospitality.

“That’s the policy at Canalta — Seven Star Service,” she said. “It means more perks for our guests, upgrades to rooms and amenities, and the great service we provide. What keeps our guests coming back is the feeling that, when they’re here, they’re treated like family.”

Canalta operates about 40 properties across Western Canada.

“Now we can bring in wonderful Canalta updates, such as a fire and barbecue pit, a games room and possibly even a mini-stick hockey room, which we’ve been talking about,” she said. “I think these changes will be fantastic for our guests.”

Brooke Christianson, Vice President of Canalta Hotels, said the brand’s commitment to community remains a top priority.

“Canalta has always had the very best community impact programs, allowing us to make a real difference through sponsorships and volunteering,” he said. “Canalta genuinely cares about people, community and sustainability.”

Among the company’s green initiatives is a loyalty program feature allowing guests to plant a tree using their points. Trees can be planted in someone’s honour or for personal enjoyment.

“We want to plant a million trees, which is a pretty big deal,” said Christianson.

Guests can track their trees — and those planted by others — through the Canalta Hotels Virtual Forest.

Another personal touch that sets Canalta apart: when booking a room, guests deal directly with a Canalta team member.

“Our Canalta teams are a single point of contact when you’re ready to book,” Burgin said. “It’s a really great place to stay.”

The Canalta High River is located at 1512 13 Ave. S.E. The front desk can be reached at 403-603-3183, and booking information is available on the hotel’s website.
