“When you see a piece that you can tell works really well, it functions well, it does what it’s supposed to do, and it looks really good, you ask who made it. That’s how a lot of people have found out about us,” says Taylor. “It’s good word-of-mouth. It’s building a solid reputation.”

This from Clint Taylor, owner of Portage Iron. Born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Taylor has a great deal of experience in the metal working industry, as well as building companies. So opening Portage Iron in January of 2024 felt like a natural step.

With a growing team, the reason Taylor chose to open his new business in Portage was obvious – he’s from here.

"Our ownership and management team are all local to Portage la Prairie.”

And the reason he chose to open Portage Iron?

“It’s simple. I recognized a local need for metal fabrication, millwright, and custom installation.”

Recognizing this need, and an ability to fill it, Portage Iron was born. From day one, they were busy manufacturing, supplying, and installing miscellaneous metals and structural steel to the commercial, industrial, and food processing industries. They also provide millwright services catering to the local agricultural industry.

“But we serve operations of all sizes across Southern Manitoba,” explains Taylor. “From small businesses and local farmers, to larger commercial, industrial, and agricultural corporations across Southern Manitoba.”

While the work that Portage Iron does is impeccable and highly sought after, it’s their commitment to services and relationships that keeps clients coming back.

“Our staff offers a diverse background with decades of experience in construction management, manufacturing, welding, and millwright,” reveals Taylor. “We have a knowledgeable, capable team ready to tackle any project that comes our way.”

Portage Iron is conveniently located on the South Bypass, alongside the TransCanada Highway.
