Just a short hop east of Moose Jaw, by the ESSO on the Trans-Canada Highway, R&S Family Restaurant has been a local favourite since Richard and Sherri Goddard opened its doors in 1994 in Moosebank before moving to Moose Jaw. R&S is built on delicious home-style meals, remarkably affordable prices, and a genuine dedication to their motto: "Pleasing You, Pleases Us!"
If you haven't yet experienced R&S, you don’t know what you’re missing. Giving you incredible value for your dollar is a cornerstone of the R&S experience. "You get your buck's worth," Sherri emphasizes. "You don't leave here hungry. It's reasonable prices and the portions are a good size." This dedication has fostered a loyal following among locals and travelers alike.
Sherri’s lifelong passion for cooking is evident in every dish. While their menu boasts a wide array of tasty options, R&S Family Restaurant has truly become renowned for its unbelievably creative burger selection. This isn't your average burger joint; it's a showcase of Sherri's imaginative culinary spirit. "Brain didn't shut off," she laughs, explaining her constant flow of ideas. "Yeah, just come up with ideas. Something different. Trying to make everybody happy kind of thing."
This innovative approach led to the legendary Burger Binder. Be sure to ask for this impressive collection of over 300 unique burger recipes! With a rotating selection of around 40 featured on the menu at any time, there’s always a new and exciting flavour to discover. One of their most talked-about creations is the surprisingly tasty Gummy Bear burger. As Sherri describes it, "It tastes like peanut butter and jam on toast. It's completely different."
The warm, community-focused atmosphere is another reason customers return time and again. "A lot of the customers we just go by name, have their orders memorized. So it's just kind of like a home feel kind of thing," Sherri explains. This personal touch extends to their long-serving staff, like night manager Amanda, who started as a teen and now sees her own daughter joining the team.
For those on the run, the Grab & Go menu offers affordable, convenient choices including cheeseburgers for around $4.00 and bacon cheeseburgers for $5.00, alongside fries and other quick bites. "Just something that's quick and easy for somebody to grab and go. And it's cheap," Sherri notes. The Grab & Go menu also features items like Denver and cheese buns, hot dogs, brekky buns, and various poutines, including a "baby poutine" for just $2.99. Ordering is easy – just stop in or call ahead at (306) 495-7253.
Being located on the highway brings a diverse clientele, and R&S has even welcomed celebrities like Mike Hall from Rust Valley Restorers. "He was down to earth. He sat there and signed T-shirts and had breakfast. It was nice, just easy talking to," Sherri recalls. They also regularly host local groups like car clubs and the Christian bikers from Regina.
Beyond burgers, R&S offers gourmet poutine and hot dogs. "You can get a BBQ roast beef, cheddar perogie poutine. There's Ghost Pepper Ranch, if you really like the spice," Sherri enthuses. For spice lovers, Sherri's Triple X burger packs a punch. And if you have a burger idea? "We're always open to that if anybody else wants to add to the list of burgers," Sherri says.
Breakfast at R&S is also a great value. "We have daily breakfast special... two eggs, hash browns, toast choice of meat and coffee for $7.99. Bigger portion, better price," Sherri points out. Hearty options like the "Northern Omelet" ensure you leave satisfied.
Despite their long history, R&S continues to welcome new customers. "Just last weekend again, we had quite a few first timers," Sherri notes. Next time you’re in the mood for exceptional value, and an unforgettable burger, drop into R&S Family Restaurant and ask for the Burger Binder.

They’re open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday to Saturday, and 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sundays. Stay updated on specials at rsfamilyrestaurant.ca and on their Facebook page.
