Army Navy Airforce Veterans (ANAVETS) Unit #389 is opening its doors to the community in a big way this May. The local veterans' club is hosting a grand opening celebration on May 9 at their new location at 10203 102nd Avenue, and everyone is invited to join the fun.

President Lorne Scobie is excited to welcome the public to the new space and shared what guests can expect. “We’re going to have city officials, ribbon cutting, door prizes, and a special presentation of the King Charles Coronation Medal by MP Chris Warkentin,” said Scobie.
The festivities kick off around 3:00 PM and are open to all. Inside the new facility, guests will find plenty of activities to enjoy—from card games and crib boards to four dart boards and a unique shuffleboard set. “It’s a small bank board with five different games on it—bowling pins, curling, straight shuffleboard—it’s a pretty interesting board,” explained Scobie.

In addition to games, visitors can relax with a cup of coffee, tea, or juice and chat with members of the organization. Anavets Unit #389 is also active online with both a Facebook page and a website, helping them connect and spread the word about their events.
