A record number of voters turned out in the Bow River riding for the 2025 federal election.

According to preliminary results from Elections Canada, 56,478 people cast ballots, just under half of the riding’s total population.

In comparison, 51,438 people voted in the 2021 election, and 55,138 in 2019.

The previous record for voter turnout in the riding was set in 1984, when 56,475 votes were cast.

Several candidates also broke party records for most votes received in Bow River. Conservative candidate David Bexte earned 44,511 votes, surpassing the previous party high set by Gordon Taylor in 1984.

Liberal candidate Bentley Barnes received 9,575 votes, breaking the party’s record of 6,840 set by William MacDonald Alexander in 2015.

The 2025 election also marked the absence of a People’s Party of Canada candidate, with the party placing second in 2021. Instead, the United Party of Canada appeared on the ballot.

Portal
