The 2025 CFL Draft took place back on Tuesday, the league's Global Draft taking place right before it.

After the 2024 draft I made a point to grab my write-handed glove and make a few jot-notes on the likes of Ajou Ajou, Richard Aduboffour, and Matt Hayball. That turned into a fun blog, available below, as now it's time to run it back with another draft day passed.

This year only a few names stuck out looking at both draft lists. Without further Ajou (Ajou), here are the Top 3 names of the 2025 CFL Draft:

Tiger Shanks - Montreal (#4 overall pick)

Tiger Woods from an alternate universe? Shanks likely chose the football route due to his inability to hit the fairway, but if his first name carries any weight, maybe we will see Tiger donning an NFL gold jacket one day instead of Masters green.

Domenico Piazza - Edmonton (#40 overall pick)

The Edmonton Elks said "🤌" with the #40 selection in the draft. The uber-Italian name of Domenico Piazza seems to be where the heritage stops, the player hailing from Mercier, Quebec, attending John Abbott College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, before playing his university ball at McGill University in the heart of Montreal.

Ethan Jordan - Ottawa (#51 overall pick)

This draft pick gave me shades of Michael Jordan. Or Tom Brady. Not because of the championship pedigree, but because it's a classic case of having two first names.

I brought these submissions to the Country 104 morning show with Nick Cooper. Listen to our draft day conversation below:
