There are a few events going on in Strathmore and the surrounding area this weekend.
1. Hype for Hospice
The Wheatland & Area Hospice Society is hosting Hype for Hospice on Sunday, May 4, in Strathmore.
The event begins at 11 a.m. in Kinsmen Park and features face painting, singing, and the chance to meet Olympic medalist Jessica Sevick.
There will also be a fire truck pull at the event, which serves as the 10th anniversary of the society.
2. Battle of the Atlantic Anniversary
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 Strathmore is having a service of remembrance on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The memorial will feature a wreath laying at the cenotaph to mark 80 years since the Battle of the Atlantic, the longest battle of World War II.
Approximately 4,400 Canadian seamen, mariners, and air force members lost their lives during the battle.
The event is open for all to attend.
3. Spring Mission Fundraising Concert
A concert for a good cause is coming to the Strathmore United Church on Sunday evening.
The show begins at 7 p.m. and features performers from the Rosebud School of the Arts.
Donations from the event are going towards Jennifer Therriault, whose daughters have been dealing with a slew of health problems for several years.
Tax receipts for the mission project will be given for donations of $20 or more.
