A lot of people chose to spend a beautiful Saturday morning picking up trash throughout Steinbach. More nice weather on the way.

After a long wait, Steinbach is finally getting its first real taste of summer—while still officially in the spring season—and residents are making the most of it.

With the sun shining bright and highs reaching 28 on Sunday, it’s shaping up to be a picture-perfect weekend. The warm weather continues into the week, with sunshine in the forecast through Friday and highs bouncing between 17 and 29 degrees.

We asked around to see how locals are spending the sunshine-filled days.

Dan Labossiere told us he would love to be outside fishing or tackling some yardwork—but other responsibilities are keeping him busy. Still, he was hopeful he could squeeze in some time outdoors.

Luke Fender has his priorities lined up: “Sit outside, BBQ, and enjoy a volleyball windup,” he said with a smile.

Joseph Kropp and his family started their weekend early by taking part in Steinbach’s annual Pick Up and Walk event on Saturday morning. New to the area, he said it felt like the right time to join in and help clean up the city.

Others had quieter plans. Sherri Lynn Parent hoped to stop by the Big Beausejour Book Sale, while Frieda Ginter’s plans were: “Respite. Love it.”

Whether you’re relaxing in the backyard, firing up the grill, or just soaking in the sun, it’s a great time to get outside—just don’t forget the sunscreen. With the UV index reaching 7, conditions are considered high.

And with more sunny skies and warm temperatures expected through the week, it looks like spring is here to stay.
