The Winnipeg Jets are heading to Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after pulling off a dramatic 4–3 double-overtime win against the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 Sunday night.

Down 3–1 entering the third period, the Jets mounted an improbable comeback with two goals in the final minutes, including Cole Perfetti’s game-tying marker with just 2.2 seconds left on the clock.

Captain Adam Lowry was the hero in double overtime, deflecting a Neal Pionk shot at 16:10 of the second OT to seal the win and send Canada Life Centre into a frenzy.

Another rocky start

The Jets entered Game 7 after letting a 2–0 series lead slip away and were once again caught flat-footed early.

Jordan Kyrou opened the scoring for the Blues just 1:10 into the game, followed by a Mathieu Joseph goal at 7:16. Winnipeg managed only three shots in the first period.

Cole Perfetti got the Jets on the board midway through the second, tipping in a Kyle Connor pass at 11:41 to cut the deficit to 2–1.

Just as momentum began to swing, Radek Faksa restored St. Louis’ two-goal lead with a wrist shot at 19:25 to end the period 3–1.

Third period miracles

With their season on the line, Winnipeg ramped up the pressure in the third.

The Jets pulled Hellebuyck as time began to slip away. Vladislav Namestnikov scored at 18:04 with a wrist shot to make it 3–2.

Then, in a chaotic final sequence, Nikolaj Ehlers recovered after fanning on a shot and got the puck to Connor, who fired a quick pass in front. Perfetti was there again, tipping it home with 2.2 seconds remaining to force overtime.

Double OT drama

Connor Hellebuyck stood tall through both overtime periods, stopping all 10 shots he faced in extra time and finishing with 26 saves overall. The Jets, who had only three shots in the first, ended the night with 47.

Lowry's deflection capped a gritty and physical game that saw the Jets outhit the Blues 73–49.

With the win, Winnipeg advances to face the Dallas Stars in Round 2. Game 1 is set for Wednesday, May 7 at 8:30 p.m. CDT in Winnipeg.
