A packed house and a flurry of bingo cards helped West Central Abilities raise funds for its programming during a community bingo night on Sunday, May 4, at the Elks Hall in Kindersley.
More than 80 people turned out to support the event, which featured bingo games, Nevada tickets, drinks, and popcorn. All proceeds will go toward completing raised garden beds behind the WCA building, part of the organization’s goal to provide inclusive and engaging activities for its participants.
“We just thought it was a great success,” said Tamara Wiebe Executive Director with WCA. “We were hoping for a good crowd, and 82 people came out to play — about what we hoped for.”
As a non-profit organization, West Central Abilities relies heavily on fundraising and community support. The funds raised from the bingo night will help purchase soil and materials needed to finish the garden project, which provides hands-on outdoor activity for program participants.
“It’s very important,” Tamara said. “We get to do different activities, spend time outside — and then we get to reap what we sow.”
Organizers are already considering another bingo night in early June due to the strong turnout and positive feedback.
“Just thank you to everyone who came out and supported us,” said Tamara.
West Central Abilities provides a range of supports and services to individuals with disabilities in west-central Saskatchewan.
