The Saskatchewan RCMP shared early Tuesday morning that a province wide phone line outage is affecting multiple detachments. The initial release came in just before 6:30 AM on Tuesday morning, and no further updates have been given.
"Saskatchewan RCMP Detachments are currently experiencing issues with their detachment telephone services. 911 service is NOT impacted." stated the release, relaying that any external calls to an RCMP Detachment phone number will likely result in a busy signal.
While 911 remains available, it is still only for emergencies. For any non-emergencies people can call 310-RCMP. Police ask that any administrative-related calls please wait, along with any calls that are not urgent in nature.
Saskatchewan RCMP will have an update as soon as the services are restored. The above plan is a perfect example of getting news out in a pinch, as this week marks Emergency Preparedness Week around Saskatchewan.
