According to the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline all four west-central Saskatchewan ferry crossings — Estuary, Lancer, Lemsford and Riverhurst — remain closed for the season as of May 6. They join only the Fenton Ferry, Weldon Ferry, and Wollaston Lake Barge Ferry as the only ones yet to open in 2025.
Last year each of the four local crossings were open by May 1. It likely won't be long before the light turns green, but it's certainly something worth noting as river crossings activate for the year across Saskatchewan.
A dedicated member of the Lemsford Ferry Regional Park page on Facebook shares the water levels every spring, and back on April 12 the river forecast told him the high crossing was about 6 inches deep, with the low crossing nearly ready to go.
Typically ferries operate between April and November each year, transporting thousands of vehicles across the river to their destination, whether be for a summer vacation of their daily commute.
