A local band, a local business, and a local organization are joining forces to make a difference in the community.

Steve Neufeld of the band Crossfire says giving back is part of their mission.

“We partner with agencies that are helping their communities, such as South East Helping Hands, who address food security issues in the community.”

This Saturday, Crossfire is teaming up with The Frantz Inn to host a fundraising event called Rockin’ for a Reason, with proceeds going to South East Helping Hands.

“We're looking forward to lots of people coming. We've got lots of sponsorships already and a lot of fun.”

Crossfire is known for putting on a great show and combining their talent with purpose, supporting a cause that matters.

“It's not just about meaning and purpose behind doing that, but it's also about meeting people, hearing stories, and I can tell you first hand from even my own career path that when you start to give back, it's interesting how opportunities start to open up for you and we always look forward to that, not with any agenda, but just to help out agencies that are working hard in their community,” says Neufeld.

Ken Dyck, operations manager at South East Helping Hands, says they're getting ready to rock, and he’s encouraging everyone to bring along a donation.

“If you bring a tin for the bin, you also get a ticket for a mocktail, courtesy of the Frantz!”

Guests can look forward to live music, food, drinks, and a silent auction.

“It'll be a very interesting silent auction,” Dyck mentions.

He adds that the support from Crossfire and The Frantz means a lot.

“We couldn't ask for anything better. When people come to us and want to do something for us, it’s a lot easier than us going out and trying to set something up. So when somebody like the Crossfire and the Frantz get together and all we do is come along and help a little bit, it's amazing. It's a win win for everybody!”

With shelves running low, South East Helping Hands is in urgent need of both food and financial donations.

“Cash is always great too, because our building, we need funds to keep it going. If we can't keep it going, the doors close. So, it's a little bit of a twofold, we need the food, but we also need the cash.”

The event takes place Saturday, May 10 at The Frantz Inn. Tickets are $25 and can be reserved by calling South East Helping Hands at 204-326-2599 or by emailing southeasthelpinghands@gmail.com

“If you can get them in advance and you know that you've got a spot,” says Neufeld.
