A man from Blumenort is facing a lengthy list of drug and weapon charges following a bust in Winnipeg.
Last December, the Winnipeg Police Service's Guns and Gangs Unit began an investigation regarding drug production and trafficking in the McMillan and Garden Grove neighbourhoods. During the investigation, police seized several weapons, ammunition, hundreds of thousands of dollars of cocaine, more than $20,000 in Canadian currency, as well as other items including drug trafficking materials.
Investigators determined that quantities of illicit narcotics were being produced and trafficked within these neighbourhoods. A number of suspects and locations of interest were identified and were investigated by police.
On April 6th, investigators simultaneously executed search warrants at two locations of interest, along Stradbrook Avenue and Egesz Street.
A male was located within the Stradbrook Avenue residence and taken into custody without incident. A male and a female were located in the residence on Egesz Street and also arrested without incident. A search of the female revealed approximately $850 on her, which was subsequently seized by police.
A 24-year-old male from Winnipeg and 26-year-old female from Winnipeg now face numerous charges. The third individual is 22-year-old Shaquil Alexander Omer of Blumenort. He has been charged with the following:
