The people of Niverville proved once again what a generous and caring community they are, after rallying behind the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign to support the “Bring a Mobility Van to Niverville” initiative

Last week’s campaign raised an impressive $12,018 through the sale of 6,009 Smile Cookies. The money goes directly toward bringing a much-needed mobility van to the town.

“Very good, very good,” said Shirley Hoult, a member of the Niverville Communities in Bloom committee. “The community just supported us tremendously and bought so many cookies. It was just fabulous.”

Hoult was quick to praise all those involved.

“The volunteers, the organizers, Annette Bryant and Lois Hunt, organizing the whole thing, and of course the Tim’s staff were amazing, selling out of the store. So yeah, it all went very well.”

This boost means the mobility van fund now sits at around $80,000 raised, a huge step closer to their goal. Hoult shared that they’re also waiting to hear back on a government grant and are currently running a 50/50 draw to keep the momentum going.

“We're climbing up there,” she said. “We're getting up there, and we're going to continue until that van is on the ground here.”

The 50/50 draw is open until June 16, and tickets will be available through the Old Tyme Country Fair weekend. As of Wednesday, the pot had already reached $4,020.

Hoult said the continued support is heartening and motivating.

“Yes, yes. Yeah, yeah. It's, it's motivating to see it going up, yeah.”

She also made sure to give a big thank you to the whole community:

“Everything, how the community supported us, how Tim’s themselves supported us, and all the volunteers, it took everybody to come together. And not forgetting the high school kids, too. We sold at the Niverville High School and they were just wonderful. So yeah, it all came together to give us a really good fundraiser.”
