On May 4, 2025, Peace Regional RCMP were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Highway 2 when they located truck parked on the side of the road with its hood up.  The vehicle did not have a matching plate to the vehicle and queries on the VIN, showed that the vehicle was in fact, stolen.

The driver of the vehicle, Leslie Lee Davis (39), a resident of High Prairie, Alta., was also found to have warrants.

Davis was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, obstruct a peace officer, as well as his warrants for failing to comply with his probation, and obstruction of a peace officer.

Davis was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was released with a court date of May 12, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River, as well as for June 2, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in High Prairie,
