On Saturday, May 3, 2025 at approximately 9:57 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP, with assistance of the Grande Prairie Rural General Investigation Section (GIS), received a call regarding a vehicle, that was later discovered to be stolen, with a stolen license plate, parked in the area of Crystal Ridge. Upon arrival, officers saw a male leaving a residence and getting into the vehicle. The male suspect, and lone occupant, drove off, attempting to flee, but was halted by approaching officers. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot, prompting a brief foot chase, which ended when the male was taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle and search warrant of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 2.6 kilograms of ketamine;
  • 13.5 grams of fentanyl;
  • 2.1 grams of methamphetamine;
  • 10.3 grams of cocaine;
  • 3 capsules of MDMA; and
  • A pill press, along with other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Davidsen (41), a resident of Dawson Creek, BC, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a stolen vehicle;
  • Possession of a stolen licence plate;
  • Assault on a police officer with a weapon;
  • Assault on a police officer;
  • Resist arrest;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Operate a motor vehicle while prohibited;
  • Fail to comply with release order; and
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3).

Following a judicial hearing, Davidsen was remanded into custody to later appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 12, 2025.

No officers were injured during this event and the Grande Prairie RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance. “This is another example of how the Grande Prairie RCMP is reducing crime in the city and area. This particular event was dynamic and we’re grateful for a safe resolution” says Staff Sergeant Brent Lawson of the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment.
