The Christian TV show 100 Huntley Street invites Canadian Christians to join them in their 'Strong & Free: United in Prayer Campaign.'
"Going back to January, we were sitting around in one of our content meetings," says Lara Watson, the Executive Producer and a host on 100 Huntley Street. "What we felt was what all Canadians were feeling. This tension in the air. That we don't know what's going to happen politically, economically, and socially."
With the rise of inflation and so many outside variables for Canadians, the team at 100 Huntley Street wanted to find a way to bring the country together.
"Seeing all of this up in the air and our Prime Minister at the time resigning, and some of those tensions in the U.S. starting to boil up, we turned to each other and we said, number one, we need to encourage Canadians. That even in this anxiety-provoking time, there is a God who loves us, created us, and offers a firm foundation in Christ."
Watson's second point was that Christians should seek God's face in prayer.
While the prayer campaign was launched on March 6, Watson continues to encourage individuals or churches to download their prayer guide.
"We're praying for businesses, families, marriages, leaders, and our First Peoples. Our prayer guide goes right across the board, praying topically together, as a unified group of followers of Jesus, across Canada. You pray Monday to Sunday."
"We believe God is moving significantly. Thousands of people are signing up to pray. We created a church toolkit so we have flyers, bookmarks, and stickers that say 'Pray for Canada.' A lot of the items are downloadable as well."
Watson also found out that this year, over two million Canadians are going to food banks for the first time in their lives. Plus, one in five Canadians struggles with mental health in some way.
"Jesus, in the New Testament, prayed for the unity of His believers. That's His prayer. At Crossroads, we believe, if Canadian Christians become unified in prayer, God will move in new and surprising ways."
From May 12-16, Crossroads will be doing live programming, interviewing Evangelical leadership, showcasing Canadian worship artists, and focusing on prayer and how God has moved in people's lives.
"My biggest hope is that God would move in a new way in Canada. That if Canadian hands and hearts are open to what God wants to do in our land, He will move. It's my dream that we would see a Canada more unified."
